General Questions
What are your hours?
Our hours change based on season but currently our hours are Monday – Friday 8:00am – 4:00pm, Saturday 8:00am – 12:00pm.
Do you offer installation?
We do provide Free estimates for our services of Decorative Concrete Curbing Installation, Driveways and Parking Pads, and Retaining Walls.
We do not offer installation on sod, rock or mulch. If you would like some recommendations on landscape contractors that are licensed and insured, we can give those to you but please know that we are in NO WAY affiliated with any landscape contractors in the area.
Can I bring a truck or trailer and pick up my own items?
Yes. You can pick up any of our materials onsite as long as we have them in stock. It is always a good idea to call ahead (especially in the spring). We try our best to keep all of our materials in stock but occasionally the manufacturer or supplier may run out.
Can I come and personally pick the materials I want?
For sure! We invite you to stop by and take a look at what you think will be best for you. Sometimes it’s better to look at the materials in person before making your selection.
Do you guarantee your products?
Because many of our products are products of nature, we include the following disclaimer on all sales: All sod, stone and rocks are a product of nature and cannot be guaranteed for color, shape, uniformity, or tendency to fracture. The variation of color, shape, and texture is inherent to and an integral part of the characteristics.
Do you offer deliver?
We offer delivery with an additional fee. To learn more about this option please call our office.
DELIVERY AND RESTOCKING FEES
**Please Note: Dear valued customers, please be aware that a 25% material restocking fee will apply if an order is canceled while our driver is en route to the delivery site. Additionally, we would like to inform you that there will be no refund on the delivery charge if an order is canceled while the driver is en route to make the delivery. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation as we strive to provide efficient and timely service.
ROCK COLOR AND SIZES
**Please Note: Stone is a product of nature so the color of the stone may vary according to the area it was quarried or mined in. Also, the thickness of the stone may vary plus or minus from what is stated on the product page with each new shipment. Bulk gravel stone sizes are based on a range of sizes and may run bigger or smaller than size stated on product page. We make every effort to represent the products offered accurately on our website and in our marketing materials, however, photos can be affected by lighting, photography, editing, reproduction or printing. It is important to view the actual product before making your final decision, as we want you to be happy with your stone purchase.
Rock, Limestone, Boulders, Flagstone
Why would I want to put rock in my yard or garden??
Depending on the rock you choose, the rocks can either be for decorative purposes or they can be in place of mulch for flowerbeds. It all depends on your needs.
How much does a yard of rock weigh?
A yard of rock typically weighs 2000-2600 pounds. A full-size truck can haul 1 yard of rock.
How much does a boulder typically weigh?
A one-man boulder is a relatively small landscape boulder, generally up to 12″. These little guys can weigh anywhere from 20-200+ lbs. A two-man boulder is generally up to roughly 18″. These are typically somewhere in the 150-500+ lb range. A three-man boulder can be up to 36″. So, how much does a 3-foot boulder weigh? These bad boys can weigh up to 800 lbs or more!
Is by the pound the only way you sell boulders?
No. We sell boulders by the pound, half and full yard. Please keep in mind that boulders are natural stone and are not all the same size.
Can we just come pick our own flagstone?
Of course! While we sell it by the pallet, we also have a flagstone area that you can come select your stone yourself. We invite you to come take a look for yourself because no 2 flagstone pieces are alike.
Sod & Grass
When do you sell sod?
We sell sod year-round, weather permitting.
What varieties do you sell of sod?
We carry St. Augustine Floratam, Citra Blue, Pro Vista and Seville, Bimini Bermuda, Icon Zoysia and Argentine Bahia. Please keep in mind that all sod is special ordered only by the full pallet and require 3-4 days in advance to order. To read more about what we offer visit our sod page.
Do you install your sod?
No, we do not offer installation. But we can deliver it to your house. We can provide you with contact information of landscape installers that are licensed and insured to provide you with an estimate for installation.
Do you sell sod by the piece?
Yes. Argentine Bahia and Floratam St. Augustine are sold by the piece at our office. Other varieties are sold by the full pallet only. Please call ahead to ensure we have the quantity in stock that you are looking for.
How big is a piece of sod?
A piece of sod is typically 16″ x 24″ in size, or 2 square feet.
Each pallet of sod covers 400 sq ft.
Do you guarantee your sod?
No. The Sod Father sells healthy, vibrant sod from local sod farms that we stand behind. Unfortunately, due to the wide realm of care it takes to prepare, install and maintain sod, we cannot be responsible for what happens to sod after it’s either delivered or has left the sod farm. We do not harvest the sod. We advise and recommend that you do your due diligence in researching your project and ensuring that your soil has the correct ph levels and has been prepped properly before installation.
SOD
SOD COVERAGE: 1 pallet of sod covers approximately 400 sq ft.
SOD PALLETS SOLD AS IS – While there is no guarantee on sod, sod is always cut and delivered on the same day to ensure you are receiving a fresh pallet. We recommend customers to contact a pest control service for pesticide spraying within 48 hours of installation.
SOD PIECES ARE SOLD AS IS – please help yourself for loading and selecting your desired pieces of sod.
SOD DELIVERY IS AVAILABLE – please inquire on delivery pricing. You can also pick up your pallets here at our office with your truck and/or trailer.
